| ABOUT PROJECTS ABROAD | Projects Abroad, which began operating in 1992, is among the leading international volunteer placement organizations. Headquartered in the United Kingdom, the organization has recruitment offices in Australia, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Ireland, Japan, Holland, South Africa, Sweden and the United States. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| GLOBAL PRESENCE | Projects Abroad offers more than 100 projects in 26 destinations: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Cambodia, China, Costa Rica, Ethiopia, Fiji, Ghana, India, Jamaica, Mexico, Moldova, Mongolia, Morocco, Mozambique, Nepal, Peru, Romania, Senegal, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Thailand, Togo and Vietnam. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| WHY CHOOSE PROJECTS ABROAD | Volunteers enjoy the flexibility of selecting a start date, end date, destination and project that best aligns with their schedule, interests and qualifications. Projects Abroad has offices in all of its destinations with full-time staff who offer unparalleled support. Plus, volunteers have the unique opportunity to live with host families and have a truly authentic experience and appreciation of the local region’s culture and people. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES | Volunteers can get involved in a variety of programs: Teaching, IT Projects, Care & Community, Medicine & Healthcare, Conservation, Business, Inca Projects, Journalism, Veterinary Medicine, Physical Therapy, Animal Care, Sports, Law, Nomad Projects, Archaeology, Khmer Projects, Spanish, French and Russian. Volunteers may also choose to use the experience for Dissertation research. Most volunteers go for between one and three months. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| COST | As a private organization independent from government, partner or other funding, Projects Abroad volunteer positions are self-funded to ensure that organizations or individuals in the developing world don’t have to incur any additional expenses. Projects Abroad is able to secure excellent work experience placements for volunteers because it does not ask partner-organizations to cover any costs for volunteers. Prices vary depending on the program. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| WHAT’S INCLUDED | The cost includes accommodation, food, airport transfers, comprehensive travel and medical insurance, in-country induction with a staff member upon arrival, support and 24-hour back-up from both local and US/Canada staff, a personalized MyProjectsAbroad page, pre-departure support from a desk officer by email and phone, and visa support (if applicable). | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| WHO CAN VOLUNTEER | Volunteers are accepted from across the world, and no qualifications are necessary. Projects Abroad welcomes volunteers between the ages of 16 and up. Many are between 18 and 25 years old, but a rapidly increasing number of “career breakers” and retirees are now taking part, resulting in a stimulating mix of people in all destinations. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| WHY VOLUNTEER | By going on a Projects Abroad placement, volunteers are joining a community of fellow volunteers and local people in developing countries - working hard, traveling and having a good time while achieving worthwhile goals. While gaining experience that looks impressive on a resume, volunteers will improve valuable skills such as team-work, presentation and communication. Above all, this is an unrivalled opportunity to gain insight into completely different cultures and ways of life, which is becoming increasingly important in the globalized world | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
